KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) - Pakistan has fielded two of its Coordination Committee members, Shabbir Kaimkhani and Zahid Mansoori, for the Senate election on the seat that fell vacant after the resignation of Pakistan Peoples Party's Saeed Ghani.

Kaimkhani and Mansoori filed on Thursday their nomination papers in the office of the provincial election commissioner as other leaders of the party, including MPAs, accompanied them and proposed and seconded them.

Both Kaimkhani and Mansoori started their work on a basic level in the party and, with time, rose through the ranks. They have served as sector incharges and on other key positions within the party.
Kaimkhani previously served as minister for health and excise and taxation. Mansoori has been a pivotal head for the party's election cell.

The Senate seat fell vacant after Ghani won the PS-114 election and, as per his party's decision, opted to take part in the politics at the provincial-level, especially in Karachi.
