German firms keen to tap wind energy

German government has started providing visa facility to South Asian business community

HYDERABAD: German companies have expressed keen interest in investing in wind power in Pakistan, aiming to assist the government in overcoming the energy crisis, said German Consul General in Karachi Rainer Schmiedchen.

Addressing business community at the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) on Tuesday, he said German-made turbines for power generation were already functioning in various projects of Pakistan and now investors desired to tap the wind power sector. “German companies want to work in Pakistan on the pattern of companies of the US, UK and France,” he added.

The German government has started providing visa facility to the business community of South Asia and is establishing vocational training institutes in order to facilitate them in carrying out business activities in a smooth way.
