Unrestricted: AIOU courses open to inmates, disabled dropouts
Apart from education, the varsity will provide additional support to these students
ISLAMABAD:
The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced that it will provide free education to prisoners, the disabled of all categories and those girls who have dropped out.
Apart from education, the varsity will provide additional support to these students including the provision of textbooks and associated material.
“These marginalised sections of the society will be eligible to take admission in any academic programme, as already approved by the university's Executive Council,” said AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui while addressing a ceremony arranged by the Officers Welfare Association (OWA), a statement issued on Tuesday read.
During the ceremony, the university's retired employees were presented with shields, as a token of their contribution to AIOU.
