Training imperatives: Skilled youth can lead country to development

K-P governor says properly equipped youth can also find opportunities abroad

The youth is a precious asset for any nation, and if utilised properly by equipping them with technical, vocational training and skills, could pave the way for development.

“Making the youth of Pakistan skilful means providing them with opportunities to gain financial independence which will indeed pave the way towards technological advancement and industrial development,” said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra while addressing a prize distribution ceremony of National Skills Competition organised by NAVTCC on Tuesday.

The skills selected for this competition were beautician, dress making, fashion designing, textile designing, fine arts, and cooking.



The governor distributed cash prizes worth Rs75,000, Rs50,000 and Rs30,000 amongst the top three position holders in each category.


Jhagra said that a skilled human resource was essential for running industrial units constantly. He added that technical training can play a vital role in the social and economic development of the country.

“A strong commitment by the government can ensure our youth are well educated, trained and better equipped to enter the job market with ample opportunities available to them,” he said.

In this regard, he highlighted that the government has launched several skill development programmes which only meet the needs of the local industries but help youngsters gain jobs overseas as skilled human capital and remit much-needed foreign exchange.

He further said that skilled manpower can lead the country to its ultimate goal of prosperity and self-reliance.
