LAHORE:
Punjab Police have decided to replicate Local Eye Locator, Hotel Eye and the Security Audit of Vulnerable Establishments software throughout the province.

The decision was made after an order to this effect was issued by the new Punjab IGP Arif Nawaz. Local Eye, a software to promote community policing by communication between elected local body representatives and police, was prepared by Lahore Police in collaboration with Punjab Safe Cities Authority, Punjab Information and Technology Board (PITB) and Special Reforms Unit.

Under the project, an android phone was provided to every elected representative and registered with the main server through his or her CNIC and EMI number. The LG representative could get an appointment with any police officer and report a crime through a single click.

Hotel Eye, on the other hand, was prepared by Lahore Police some years ago. Through it, all hotels were connected with the main server of the police and crime registration office. If a person checking into a hotel had a criminal record, their entry would pop up and he or she could be apprehended.

Through Security of Vulnerable Establishment Software, all important buildings were geo-tagged. Every beat officer was provided an android phone and was supposed to check security on a daily basis and update it through the programme.

IGP Arif ordered that the software be replicated in other districts during his visit to the Defence A Police Station. During a meeting between PITB Chairperson Umar Saif and his team with the IGP, the replication of the software and progress on other IT projects were discussed.
