Petty dispute: Man kills two women
Quarrel started on paving the front of the house
RAWALPINDI:
A man shot dead two women in the Takal Village of Kallar Syedan when they tried to stop him from paving the front of his house, police said on Monday.
The killer, identified as Zulfiqar, was on the run after police booked him for murder.
The deceased, identified as 70-year-old Safia Begum, and her daughter-in-law 26-year-old Halima Sadia, were related to the assailant and lived in the adjacent house.
Kallar Syedan police station SHO Sheikh Qasim said that the alleged killer, Zulfiqar, was paving a portion of the street in front of his house with concrete early in the morning when Safia Begum tried to stop him and started arguing with him.
On this, the SHO said, Zulfiqar went inside his house, took a 12 gauge shotgun and started shooting at the women from his rooftop. Safia died on the spot while Sadia was injured. She died later during treatment at the Kallar Syedan THQ.
“The killer and Safia were cousins and lived in adjacent houses,” Qasim said. Zulfiqar fled after the incident while police have registered a murder case against him on the complaint of Sakhawat Hussain, Safia’s son and Sadia’s husband.
Separately, an assistant sub-inspector of Rawalpindi police died while another was seriously injured in an accident at Kallar Kahar on the Motorway.
