LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri is expected to reach Lahore on August 8, announced PAT core committee on Monday.

PAT Secretary General Nawaz Gandapur said the chairman had postponed all his foreign engagements and decided to return home.  “Dr Qadri will chalk out a plan to pressurise authorities to release the Baqar Najafi Commission Report to provide justice to the victims of Model Town.”

Gandapur said it was an irony that three years had passed but the report had not been made public. If Sharif brothers think, they were not involved in the incident, what was the justification for delay in the release of the report, he asked. “The PAT had held them responsible for the Model Town killings because victim families had refused to get their FIRs registered.”

Earlier, victim families’ demand for formation of impartial Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was not entertained and now the government was reluctant to made JIT’s report public. The PAT would go to the last extent to get Qisas, he added.
