One person was killed and seven people were injured in an exchange of fire over a minor issue between rival groups in the North Cantonment area on Monday.
North Cantonment SHO said a person named Noor Khan had hit a person while reversing his vehicle in Ismail Colony. They exchanged some harsh words with each other over the issue. Noor left the scene and returned with his accomplices to Ismail Colony and started fighting.

Members of the opposing side also gathered at the scene and both groups pulled out their guns during the conflict. A gun battle ensued and seven people suffered injuries. The victims were admitted to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced one victim, Pervaiz, as dead. After the incident, residents of the area gathered at the scene and held a protest. They shouted slogans against the incident and set a rickshaw on fire. Police and rescue teams also reached the spot and took the deceased to the morgue for an autopsy.

Homicide Cell In-charge Muhammad Khalid said he had collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and was waiting for complainants to register the FIR.
