IG distributes 45 vehicles among investigation wing officers

AD Khawaja says 108 police mobile vans will soon be given to police stations

KARACHI: In a bid to improve the capacity of the investigation wing of the Karachi police, Sindh Inspector-General of Police (IG) Allah Dino Khawaja distributed on Monday 45 Toyota pickups among the officers of the investigation wing.

The IG distributed the vehicles at a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, Garden. Zonal deputy inspector generals, district SSPs and station investigation officers were also present on the occasion.

"Besides these 45 pickups, 108 police mobile vans would also be distributed to police stations," the IG said, while addressing the audience. "Investigation wing is the backbone of the police department," he added.

Sindh police want forensic laboratory to bolster investigations

According to the IG, all the steps are being taken to run the investigation wing of the police on scientific basis, with expansion forensic evidences also have importance in this regard. He said using scientific and technical methods is not only to improve the investigations but it also helps in arresting the actual criminals.

The ballistics lab will be completed in October this year, he said. The IG said the investigation cost of the terrorism cases have increased to Rs0.5 million from Rs0.1 million, which would definitely help in improving the investigations of the terrorism cases.

"After getting these vehicles, the police investigators will be able to give their best," he said, adding that all the necessary steps are being taken to improve the investigations with the help of the available GSM locaters.

He further said that with these Toyota pickups, the investigators will get help in transporting the criminals to the courts. "Today, I have fulfilled my promise to provide them the vehicles that I promised about one month ago," he said.
