Football : Brooking backs Rooney ban
Rooney missed United’s win over Fulham and will also sit out next Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City
LONDON:
Sir Trevor Brooking, the English FA’s director of football development, insists Manchester United star Wayne Rooney deserved his two-match ban for swearing.
Rooney missed United’s win over Fulham and will also sit out next Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City after he swore into a television camera during his side’s 4-2 victory at West Ham.
“I think that was pretty venomous, straight into a camera at lunchtime on a Saturday. I believe the FA made the right decision.”
