NA secretariat issues schedule for the poll; President Mamnoon summons lower house session on Tuesday

ISLAMABAD: The election for the next prime minister of Pakistan will be held on Tuesday, August 1, Express News reported on Saturday, a day after former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified by the Supreme Court from holding his lower house seat.

According to the schedule for the election issued by the National Assembly Secretariat on Saturday night, nomination papers for the premier’s slot will be available to members of the National Assembly at 3:00 pm on Sunday and can be submitted till 2:00 pm on July 31. NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq will start scrutiny of the papers upon receiving them.

The election for the prime minister’s seat will be held on at 3:00pm on Tuesday and President Mamnoon Hussain has summoned a lower house session for this purpose, a press release issued by the NA Secretariat said.
