Inter results: Girls outshine boys in Abbottabad

BISE-A chairman urges parents, teachers to help eliminate cheating

ABBOTTABAD: Girls swept all the top positions in the annual Higher Secondary School Examinations, results for which were announced on Saturday.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad (BISE-A) also organised a ceremony in at the board’s auditorium on Saturday where BISE-A Controller Examinations Professor Jehanzeb Khan disclosed the results and the position holders were awarded.

The top position in the exams was secured by Javeria Zahir of Peace College Mansehra after scoring 1,011 marks. She was closely followed by Laiba Munib from the same college who scored just three marks fewer, 1,008 marks. Saman Mehmood from the Tameer-e-Watan College bagged the third position with 1,003 marks.

Inter results expected on Monday

All three appeared in the pre-medical category.

The controller exams said that a total of 35,463 students had appeared for the Part-II intermediate exams. Of these, 21,638 had passed the examinations with an overall pass percentage of 61.02 per cent.

Among the boys in the pre-medical category, Hamza Muhammad from the Abbottabad Public School clinched the top position after securing 991 marks, 20 marks short of the overall topper, Zahir. Aazan Lodhi and Babar Ali from the Peace College in Mansehra secured second and third positions respectively after scoring 978 and 976 marks.

Likewise, in the pre-engineering category for boys, the top three spots were taken by students from the Peace College in Mansehra. Talha Tariq took the top spot with 986 marks. Samiullah Khan was second with 980 marks while Wajahatullah was third with 977 marks.

Among girls in the pre-engineering category, Amina Dawood from the Jinnah Basic School in Mansehra took the first position by securing 980 marks. She was followed by Areeba Zahoor of Peace College Mansehra and Rubab Rehman of Peace College Haripur who took second and third positions respectively with 971 and 961.

Sitara Brooj: When sky’s the limit

In the computer and general science group, Abdul Samad of Sir Syed College Haripur was top among the boys with 933 marks. Usman Nawaz of Government Akhtar Nawaz Khan Shaheed College Haripur was second with 898 marks while Hassan Sattar of Tameer-e-Millat Hazara School Shinkiari was third with 882 marks.

Among the girls, Momina Yousaf of Pine Hills Public School and College Abbottabad was first with 929 marks and Misbah Saleem of Al-Quran Beacon College Mansehra was second with 909 marks. The third position was shared among Fatima Anwar Zeb of Punjab College Mansehra and Saba Irshad of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Abbottabad who both got 907 marks.
