In a crackdown against vice dens in the city, the police raided on Friday a gambling den in District Central and arrested over two dozen gamblers.
The raid was conducted by the Gulberg division police led by SP Bashir Ahmed Brohi in Nazimabad locality that falls in Liaquatabad division. "This gambling den was the biggest in Karachi," SP Brohi claimed, adding that the den was owned by a notorious gambler, Yaqoob Sindhi.
The officer further said the raid was conducted on the directives of the Central zone police chief, DIG Zulfiqar Larik, adding that a total of 29 suspects, including gamblers along with Yaqoob's son and the den's manager, were taken into custody.

The police also claimed to have seized local and foreign currency used as pool money. Furthermore, the police also recovered 21 mobile phones, arms, ammunition and gambling instruments. The suspects were shifted to a police station and cases were registered against them. The police have sealed the gambling den while further investigations are under way.
