ISLAMABAD: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a gang of robbers and recovered weapons and valuables from their possession, a police spokesperson said.

On the directives issued by SSP Sajid Kiani, SP Investigation Zeeshan Haider had formed a special unit tasked with nabbing the notorious gang involved in robberies. The team, working under the supervision of DSP Muhammad Ashraf Shah, managed to arrest three members of the gang. The arrested criminals have been identified as Imran Khan, Suleman Khan and Mubeen Khan. The police also recovered two golden rings, mobile phones and 30-bore pistol from them.

Liquor haul

Additionally, Ramana police station arrested four bootleggers during a raid at a residential house located in sector G-11/1 and recovered 1,020 litres of liquor, 34 beer cans and other brewing items from there, a police spokesperson said.

Acting on a tip-off provided by an arrested bootlegger, Malik Yasir, a special police team headed by DSP Ghulam Muhammad Baqir raided a facility where liquor was being prepared and stored. The Ramana police arrested four people from there. Cases have been registered against them and further investigation is underway. SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani lauded the performance of the police team and directed all police officials to beef up security in their respective area.
