According to the results announced on Monday, apart from securing the top positions, the pass percentage of girls stood at 84.62 per cent. By comparisons, boys had a pass percentage of just 72.18 per cent.
The overall pass percentage among all candidates remained 77.72 per cent.
The first position in the board was clinched by Amber Liaqat who obtained 1,082 marks out of a total of 1,100 marks. She was a student of Radiant Secondary School for Girls located on Iqbal Road in Rawalpindi. The second position was secured by Maryam Khalid of Winnington High School for Girls in Jehlum who scored 1,079 marks.
The third position was shared by four girls who all obtained 1,077 marks. These girls included Areeba Aslam from Radiant School, Umme Salma from Fauji Foundation Model Secondary School for Girls from Chakwal, Rameesa Wajid from District School for girls Chakwal, and Memoona Afzal from Siddique Public School for Girls in Rawalpindi.
As many as 121,505 students appeared in the annual examination. Of these, 94,402 cleared their exams, while 26,888 flunked.
As many as 54,111 girls appeared for the exams, of which 45,787 passed.
As many as 67,393 boys appeared for the examinations and 48,615 of
them passed.
As many as 88,145 regular students from government schools appeared in the examination and 77,540 of them cleared with a pass percentage of 85.56. The number of private students appearing in the examination was 33,360 and 19,001 of them were successful with a pass percentage of 57 per cent.
The BISE Rawalpindi will hold a prize distribution ceremony in honour of the top position holders at the Government Asghar Mall Degree College for Boys on Tuesday.
