Quetta Trauma Centre made autonomous entity

Action was taken in light of the observations of the judicial commission formed by the court in public interest

QUETTA: The Trauma and Emergency Center at the Civil Hospital in Quetta was notified as an autonomous entity on Sunday.

A notification to this effect was issued by the provincial Health Department.

The action was taken in light of the observations of the judicial commission formed by the court in public interest.

Dr Fahim Khan was appointed as its Managing Director while Dr Azeemullah Babar, a senior surgeon, was appointed as the Director Medical Services of the Trauma Centre.

Moreover, seven administrative officers, 14 Surgeons, five neurosurgeons, five skin specialists were also appointed.

Furthermore, the notification stated that in emergencies, consultants of all hospitals in Quetta would ensure their availability at the Trauma Centre within 30 minutes.

All relevant staff would have to report to the managing director on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, people urged the government to bar all doctors and surgeons posted at the Trauma Centre from private practice with immediate effect.
