Khwaja out of championship opener
Derbyshire overseas player Usman Khawaja is facing a short lay-off due to a thigh strain.
BRISTOL:
Derbyshire overseas player Usman Khawaja is facing a short lay-off due to a thigh strain.
The Australia batsman was ruled out of the County Championship opener against Gloucestershire but is expected to return to action soon.
Derbyshire head of cricket John Morris was hopeful for Khawaja’s swift recovery.
“It is a blow to lose Usman for the start of the season but we are significantly relieved that his lay-off will not be a lengthy one,” said Morris.
“I feel for the player because he’s been looking forward to this stint in county cricket immensely.”
