Substantial funds: Govt foresees new era of prosperity through ADP
MPAs say PML-N has ushered in new standards of quality, transparency
LAHORE:
Different lawmakers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have agreed that the Annual Development Programme (ADP) budget of Rs635 billion will usher in a new era of prosperity in the province.
Talking to APP, they said the Punjab government presented a “wonderful” budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18 and maintained the outlay would ensure speedy development.
MPA Sardar Qaiser Abbas Khan Magsi said record development funds had been allocated for rural and less-developed areas of the province. He said that PML-N was paying special attention to important sectors, including education, healthcare and provision of clean drinking water, apart from the social sector.
He said the government had earmarked historic resources to improve the quality of life of people belonging to southern Punjab. He said it was heartening to note that the ratio of development funds compared to the population of that region.
Magsi added a clean drinking water programme worth Rs25 billion would spread to all the tehsils of southern Punjab. He said work on Khanewal-Lodhran Road had been started and would end up costing Rs22 billion.
Meanwhile, the Muzaffargarh-DG Khan dual carriageway will be completed this year at a cost of Rs 17billion.
MPA Chaudhry Mohsin Ashraf said a culture based on merit, transparency and honesty was being promoted, while the menaces of nepotism, corruption and illegal gratification were being eliminated. To a question, he said the journey of selfless public service was continuing under the PML-N leadership.
MPA Majid Zahoor said various projects had been completed despite obstacles, adding that the “sit-ins party” jeopardised the journey of national development for personal gains. “It has conspired and ignored the interests of 200 million people of the country,” he added.
