Lahore clinch Punjab Games trophy
Winning 14 events with 3,459 points to seal overall victory.

Lahore won the 71st Punjab Games securing 3,459 points after winning 14 events that were contested on the final day at the Punjab Stadium.
Faisalabad, the only other major contender that had posed a challenge to Lahore’s dominance, secured the second place with 2,170 points, with Gujranwala bagging the third position at 1,533 points. The boxing competition saw Lahore coming out on top with seven gold and two silver medals. Faisalabad secured the second position with one gold, two silver and four bronze medals, while Sargodha sealed the third position bagging one gold, one sliver and five bronze medals.
Faisalabad won the handball competition, while Lahore came in second and, Sargodha secured the third position.
The football championship was won by Faisalabad, while the hockey crown went to Sargodha. The athletics championship saw Lahore reigning supreme, while Sargodha and Sahiwal finished second and third, respectively.
In the male gymnastic championship, the hosts managed the first spot, followed by Gujranwala in second place and Multan in third. The female gymnastics event also saw Lahore dictating terms, while Dera Ghazi Khan took second spot and Faisalabad clinched the third place.
Organizing Secretary of the Punjab Games Idris Haider Khawaja said that despite several hurdles a successful event was pulled off, which will help in promoting sporting activities in the province.
“The Punjab Olympics Association is doing its best to improve the standard of sports at the grass root level,” said Khawaja.
Nine teams from all over the province took part in the Games, which concluded with a closing ceremony, that had Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa as the chief guest.
