LAHORE:
Zain Ali, a young singer who represented Pakistan in the 2012 edition of Indian music show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, passed away at a friend’s house in Sheikhupura on Friday.

As per the initial reports, the Lahore-based-singer had left home on Thursday night to visit friends in Sheikhupura. “Zain told us that he was going to hang out with his friends for a few days but we woke up to the news of his death,” the musician’s brother Sonu Ali told The Express Tribune.

Linkin Park singer dead in apparent suicide

Zain’s friends told Sonu, he went to the washroom and when he did not come out for a while, they started banging the door and calling his name. That’s when they barged in and found him lying unconscious on the floor.

With the medical investigation still under process the exact cause of death is yet to be revealed. Sonu shared that the singer was a drug addict which is very common in the music industry but he would never cross any limits.

“He was unmarried and had no love affairs or financial troubles that we know. In fact, Zain was about to make a new song for an upcoming film soon and was very excited about it,” shared Sonu. According to the brother, initial reports suggest that Zain may have died due brain hemorrhage but the family will decide their plan of action only after the final medical reports have been processed.

Rumours of Zain’s death initially sprung up in Punjab’s music fraternity as “another suicide,” but Sonu and the rest of their family members maintain that Zain must have not taken his own life. “I am certain he didn’t commit suicide but I guess we’ll have confirmation once the investigation and postpartum reports are here,” said Sonu.

Twitter in tears after Chester Bennington's untimely death

Zain hailed from the Saeed Mitha family of musicians. He got his big break when he participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and was appreciated by industry veterans in both India and Pakistan. His fans include Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Sadly, he could not win the competition but many had labelled him the future of Pakistani music. Of late, he had been performing at various private music gatherings in Lahore.

“Zain was a great singer! In fact, he was one of the most popular young singers in Lahore and everyone expected him to do some great things in the industry,” said senior musician Sajjad Tafu. “Many of the up and coming, aspiring singers ideolised him and his death is great loss to the industry.”
