Commerce ministry explores new overseas markets
Government’s focus is on improving the supply chain mechanism to facilitate internal and external trade

The Ministry of Commerce is focusing on modernising Pakistan’s trade mechanism in a bid to facilitate international and domestic businesses and enhance exports, a senior official of the ministry stated on Wednesday.
“We are exploring new trade avenues and markets in different regions of the world to get greater access and diversify export destinations,” the official added.

Elaborating on the new trade policy, he said the government’s focus was on improving the supply chain mechanism to facilitate internal and external trade along with increasing the use of technology to enhance the competitiveness of local businesses.
“The three-year Strategic Trade Policy Framework (STPF) 2015-18 has been designed to push annual exports to $35 billion along with transforming the economy from ‘factor-driven’ to ‘efficiency and innovation-driven’.
