The USAID will extend financial assistance of US$14.98 million for the promotion of agriculture and livestock sectors in Punjab, said Punjab Agriculture Secretary Muhammad Mehmood.

The financial assistance would be extended under USAID Punjab Enabling Environment 5 Years Project, he said at a joint workshop organised a local hotel on Wednesday. USAID official Jerry Basen, agriculture stakeholders and officials of Punjab government attended the workshop.
The purpose of the USAID Enabling Environment Project and Agriculture Department is to improve the quality and productivity. The consultation and coordination between USAID and Punjab Agriculture department had improved agriculture growth rate from 0.27% to 3.46%, said Mehmood.

Speaking on the occasion, Jerry said that the Punjab province had enough potential to grow further. He added that the agriculture policy, evolved by the agriculture commission would surely help improve crops.
