Davis’s release: New law officer to file reply by 15th
LHC adjourned hearing of a petition challenging removal.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday adjourned hearing of a petition challenging removal of Raymond Davis’s name from the exit control list (ECL) without obtaining consent of the LHC that had ordered for his name to be put in the ECL.
Earlier, the court was informed that deputy attorney general Naveed Inayat Malik, who had been appearing in the court, was removed. A new law officer appeared in the court and sought time to prepare the arguments. The court adjourned the hearing till April 15. The petition was filed by Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffree, who requested the court to seek explanation from Federal Law Minister Babar Awan, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Additional and Sessions Judge Muhammad Yousaf Aujla for facilitating Davis’s release. He said that the LHC order was still is place when Davis was released. He said that the release had been made in violation of the court orders.
