Health experts urge greater efforts against malaria
Experts say malaria vectors usually bite victims between dusk and dawn
ISLAMABAD:
Health experts on Sunday urged that increased malaria prevention and control measures were essential to curbing the disease.
Malaria is a life threatening disease caused by parasites which are transmitted to the people through the bites of infected Anopheles mosquitoes, particularly during the monsoon season.
Experts added that these malaria vectors usually bite victims between dusk and dawn. Non-immune travellers from malaria free areas are vulnerable to the disease when they get infected.
Expert warns of waterborne diseases
Dr Wasim Khawaja from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) said that parents and caretakers of children need to realise that it was their moral, ethical and religious obligation to ensure their children remain protected against the disease by completing the immunisation course.
