Plucky Pakistan beaten 3-2 by mighty Egypt in squash series
National players fared admirably despite an obvious gulf in class between two sides
ISLAMABAD:
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was in attendance at the final of the 2017 Pakistan-Egypt International Squash Series, which was edged 3-2 by Egypt at Muhsaf Ali Mir Squash Complex in Islamabad on Sunday.
Two matches were played on the final day of the four-day bilateral series, with Pakistan’s Israr Ahmad defeating Egypt’s Aboulghar in the first encounter before Farhan Mehboob upset world number one Karim Abdel Gawad.
During the presentation ceremony, the COAS, also the event's chief guest, awarded trophies to the winners and runners-up of the tournament.
In addition to COAS, the squash spectacle was also witnessed by Air Marshal Shahid Akhtar Alvi, legendary squash players Qamar Zaman, Jahangir Khan and Jansher Khan as well as a number of squash fans.
