LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday sought replies from the Punjab government and the Lahore DCO on a petition which challenged the holding of protest rallies and processions on The Mall. The Mall Road Traders Association submitted that the business on The Mall had been badly affected due to the frequent protests and rallies. The petition said different political, religious and other parties hold protest rallies on a daily basis especially on Fridays. The association said the traffic police have to block all adjoining roads whenever a rally is held which hinders the public who want to approach business places. The petitioner-association prayed to the court to issue a restraining order against the holding of protest rallies on The Mall.
