Lahore continue Punjab Games domination

Sargodha, Gujranwala follow overall leaders.

Lahore continued to dominate the 71st Punjab Games as Sargodha and Gujranwala bagged second and third place, respectively. Lahore head the table with 160 points ahead of Sargodha (76) and Gujranwala (50) on the second day.


Mubashir claims gold

In the karate event, Mubashir of the Lahore team claimed the gold medal while Multan’s Mohammad Hussain bagged silver and Danish of Gujranwala stood third in the 80-kilogramme and above category. In the 80-kilogramme category, Adeel Afzal of Lahore stood first ahead of Abdul Waheed of Sarghoda and Faisal of DG Khan.

Gujranwala win boxing event

In the boxing 49-kilogramme event, Danial of Gujranwala beat Kadim Hussan of Multan while Lahore’s Azam beat Kashif of Faisalabad.


Lahore win tennis event

If there was anything left to win on the day, Lahore won that too as they bagged the tennis gold while Multan claimed second place and Bahawalpur finished with a bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Faisalabad cheered their first-place finish in the volleyball competition while Lahore finished second ahead of Sahiwal. Faisalabad clinched the kabaddi event as well followed by Lahore and Multan at second and third place, respectively.

Ali fastest in 100-metre sprint

In the 100-metre sprint, Sahiwal’s Shoket Ali finished first and was followed by Tanvir Abbas of Sargodha and Lahore’s Aan. In the 400-metre event, Rasheed Ali of Sahiwal while Anees of Lahore ended runners-up. Najam Shahzad of Gujranwala finished third on the podium.

In the 800-metre run, Sadaf of Lahore stood first as Qasim Ali of Sarghoda took the second position and Naeem of DG Khan claimed the bronze medal.
