Two more PPP stalwarts join PTI

Mohammad Moazim Jatoi, Amir Yar Waran have joined Imran Khan’s party

ISLAMABAD: A former PPP minister and veteran politician from Muzaffargarh, Mohammad Moazim Jatoi on Wednesday announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Jatoi represents NA-179 and contested the 2013 general elections on a PPP ticket and managed to secure 73,199 votes against the winning candidate of PML-N’s Makhdoomzada S B A Sultan, who obtained 110,197 votes.

Jatoi, however, had won this NA seat in 2008 general elections after defeating the PML-Q’s Makhdoomzada Syed Basit Ahmed Sultan by a margin of more than 19,000 votes.

Another former PPP MNA from Bahawalpur Amir Yar Waran – who was disqualified in 2010 by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on the ground of having a fake degree – also announced his joining the PTI.

Waran represents NA-184 – mainly consisting of rural areas of Bahawalpur. Waran family has a good hold on politics in this constituency.

Due to his disqualification, Amir Waran had fielded Khadeeja Amir to contest the 2013 general elections and she stood runner-up by securing 64,175 votes on a PPP ticket. She was defeated by PML-N’s Mian Najibuddin Awaisi, who secured 94,429 votes.

PTI Secretary General Jehangir Tareen met with the former PPP leaders, and the three then made their way to Bani Gala where the newly-inducted members of the PTI met Khan.

New entrants reposed their full confidence in

the leadership of Imran Khan, a statement issued by the Central Media Department reads.
