PPP lawmaker decries illegal appointments at Sufi University
Dr Makhdoom Rafik Zaman writes letter to CM demanding action against VC

The former home minister and current Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Dr Makhdoom Rafik Zaman has accused the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences, Bhit Shah's vice-chancellor of making illegal appointments without any advertisement and proper procedure.

Dr Zaman has sent a letter to the chief minister requesting him to take action against the vice-chancellor and officials responsible for the illegal appointments. "Illegal recruitment on gazetted posts is under way in Sufi University [in violation of] prescribed rules and regulations. I will appreciate if you kindly take notice of it," reads the letter.
The PPP lawmaker also mentioned in the letter that similar misconduct had been observed earlier when lower grade employees were recruited in the varsity.

The varsity administration neither conducted tests nor interviews, the letter said.
In the letter, Dr Zaman further demanded that all the appointments made by the varsity administration without due process be declared illegal. New recruitment rules should be strictly followed to ensure merit so that competent and capable lecturers, officers and lower staff are appointed in the varsity, he said.
