Karakoram University: VC laments inadequate campus facilities
Shortage of power and water at the campus are the two main issues undermining the university’s performance.
GILGIT:
Dr Najma Najam, the Vice Chancellor of Karakoram International University (KIU), has said that shortage of power and water at the campus are the two main issues undermining the university’s performance.
“We have repeatedly written to the government but haven’t received any encouraging response,” the vice chancellor told journalists visiting the campus on Thursday.
Dr Najam added that students remain handicapped due to power shortage and are unable to use the computer laboratory and other modern facilities set up at a huge cost. “What is the use of such facilities if there is constant load-shedding at the campus?” she questioned.
Regarding the university’s performance, the VC said its ranking has improved in recent times and now stands at 14 from the previous position of 80.
Responding to a question she said that Higher Education Commission (HEC) should remain intact.
