Veteran activist Lala Rukh breathed her last on Friday in Lahore after struggling with cancer.
Lala Rukh was well known for her contribution in women‘s rights movement and the art culture, which she nurtured being a faculty member at the prestigious National College of Arts (NCA).
The activist was one of the founding members of Women Action Forum (WAF), a group of radical feminists who got together to fight discrimination and oppression against women.

She had also been active with Pakistan-India Peoples' Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD) between the arch-rivals.
Remembering her and the struggle she waged for society, Sheema Kermani, the classical Kathak dancer and activist, said as a Marxist and feminist activist, Lala was committed and contributed in the progress of society.
“Her death is a loss not only for the feminists but also for society at large,” Sheema, who heads Tehrik-e-Niswan, told The Express Tribune. “Along with her valiant activism, she started a programme in NCA and gave her students a holistic approach towards arts."
Her funeral prayers will be offered at 5pm today.
