'Exhausted' Dar is just what Imran needed to expose 'guilt on face'
PTI chairman hits out at finance minister for his remarks relating to donations for Shaukat Khanum hospital
A visibly distressed Finance Minister Ishaq Dar wiping sweat off his face with a handkerchief after being interrogated in the Panama Papers case was just what political rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan needed to take a dig at him.
Talking to reporters outside the Federal Judicial Academy, Dar had called Imran "a coward and gambler, who's involved in tax evasion", saying "his assets should be scrutinised to find out how he became rich overnight."
"A picture is worth a thousand words! Guilt written all over his face," Imran tweeted minutes later.
The PTI chairman also hit out at Dar for his remarks relating to donations for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, saying:
Lastly, Imran put up a 'happy' picture of himself accompanied by party leader Jehangir Tareen and others.
In his media talk, Dar had downplayed Imran's oft-quoted accusations, saying the premier is not corrupt, and is wrongly being accused of money laundering.
According to him, the premier's rivals were hatching conspiracies against him and his government at a time when Pakistan was witnessing stability.
Panama JIT grills PM’s cousin for second time
“The business interests of Nawaz Sharif are being illegally dragged into the investigation of [Panamagate case],” Dar told journalists. “This practice is ongoing for the last 23 years; whenever the country is gaining stability, political parties launch a movement against him.”
The minister went on to add that there is no proven corruption against the premier and the accusations on him should come to an end. “All matters [relating to the PM] are transparent and allegations of money laundering are unfounded,” he added. Dar said he himself had responded to every question of the JIT.
Criticising the summoning of Maryam Nawaz before the JIT, Dar asked how would Imran feel if his sisters were told to appear in front of the probing team.
