Two sentenced to death, five given life term in murder cases
Courts imposed heavy fines on the convicts
FAISALABAD:
Two men were sentenced to death while five were awarded life term in separate murder cases in Faisalabad.
A court awarded death sentence to a man and life imprisonment to two in a murder case. The judgment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Usman.
The prosecution told the court that accused Amin, Tahir and Shahid had gunned down Muhammad Manzoor over a dispute in Sandal Bazaar police limits in 2014. The police arrested the accused and registered an FIR against them.
The police produced the accused before the court where all three were found guilty of the murder. After hearing witnesses and analysing the evidence, the court awarded death sentence to Amin and imposed a fine of Rs0.5 million. The court also awarded life term to Tahir and Shahid and imposed a fine on them that would be paid to the heirs of the victims.
Meanwhile, in another judgment, a session’s court in Faisalabad sentenced a man to death after he was found guilty of killing a man. However, a co-accused in the case was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
According to the prosecution, Nadeem along with his accomplice Rizwan had killed his brother-in-law Zaheer Abbas after he married a woman in 2015. Later, the police registered a murder case against the suspects and arrested them.
While announcing the verdict, Additional Sessions Judge Rana Shaukat Ali sentenced Nadeem to death and acquitted Rizwan giving him the benefit of doubt. The court also ordered the convict to pay Rs0.4 million compensation to the family of the deceased.
Similarly, a court awarded life imprisonment to three men and acquitted three others in a murder case in Faisalabad.
