MUZAFFARABAD:
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (JIAJK) chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday elected Dr Khalid Mahmood as its new chief (Ameer) for the next three years. The JI’s electoral college, which comprises 13,041 members in both Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK, voted for Dr Mahmood in a secret ballot to lead the party in the region. Dr Mahmood beat off competition from two other candidates to bag the top spot, including the outgoing chief Abdul Rashid Turabi and Noorul Bari.
