A man in Delhi chopped off his step-daughter’s ears late Thursday, claiming to be commanded by ‘ghost’.

The accused, Amrit Bahadur, told police he saw a ‘ghost’ around 2am who asked him to make the girl, Bina, cry if he were not to die, reported the Times of India.

Following the command, he first poured water on the girl to make her cry but the ghost asked him for blood so he “chopped a bit of her ear.”

“But the ghost asked me to give them her entire ear, so I sliced both her ears and kept them in a corner so that they could collect them," he told police.

The girl’s horrid screams woke her mother, siblings and neighbours up who tried to tackle a violent Bahudar.

"When our team entered the house, the man was about to slash the girl's throat," said a police official.

He was arrested and charged with attempted murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.

Initial investigation revealed Bahudar is suspected to be mentally unstable, and claims to be in touch with a spirit.
