Three brothers among four killed in Kohat grenade blast

Explosive device kills four children and wounded three others while they were playing in a pond.

At least four children, three of them brothers, were killed in a grenade blast in the Jarma area of Kohat on Wednesday,


police said.

A police official told The Express Tribune that the  blast took place at around noon, when the children, who were playing around
a shallow pond, found  a hand-grenade beneath
a sack.

The children started playing with the grenade which went off, killing all four of them, the police official said.

The area where the incident occurred is about
six kilometres south of Kohat city on the Kohat-Bannu road.

The three children killed, Daud, Sultan and Sajid,
were all sons of Deran Gul, the official said, adding
that the fourth child, identified as Hassan, was their relative.

Their ages ranged between eight and 14, the official said.
