The Lahore High Court resonated with the slogans against the NGO sector and the Ahmadi community.
Senior advocates Shabbir Hussain, Mian Liaquat Ali, along with barrister Usama Maalik and Noor Ijaz, appeared before the courts in a habeas corpus petition which a woman had filed for the recovery of her daughter from Maqsood Buttar
The counsels contended the Buttar had married the petitioner’s daughter and a child was born from the wedlock. However, the woman’s daughter disappeared some weeks ago and she suspected that Buttar had kidnapped her.
DIG Investigation Sultan Ahmed also appeared before the court and sought time from Justice Abdul Sami. The judge snubbed the police officer by asking how many “months” he needed to complete the inquiry. He ordered the submission of a report after the completion of the probe.
Meanwhile, some lawyers used abusive language against Noor Ijaz who requested time for her colleague Usama Malik to come to the rostrum. Barrister Usama Malik tried to complain to the judge, but the lawyers got to him first and started thrashing him.
The lawyers tore apart his clothes and dragged the advocate out of the court room. The legal fraternity also misbehaved with senior lawyer Shabir Hussain. Meanwhile, the lawyers also chanted slogans against nonprofit organisations and the Ahmadi community, They hurled abuse at Asma Jahangir.
After the intervention of other lawyers, the matter was pacified and Lahore High Court security moved in to control the situation.
