“It is most shameful that the prime minister has tried to portray the ongoing investigation as a conspiracy against his government,” said Imran in a recorded video message posted on his party’s official website. “Who are conspirators?” he questioned and went on to answer that “Sharif has hinted at the army and the judiciary”.
The PTI chairman criticised the prime minister for reading out a written speech to the media outside the Federal Judicial Academy and claimed that “it [speech] had been drafted well before his arrival to record his statement before the JIT”.
Imran said the prime minister had not submitted any new evidence [to prove their stated money trail] with the JIT.

He said the letters of the Qatari prince were the only money trail of the Sharif family “but as of now he [prince] has refused to visit Pakistan to testify before the probe team and they [the PML-N] has nothing new to tell the JIT”.
Imran recalled a tweet of Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, she had posted after both the current army chief and the chief justice of Pakistan took oath of their offices.
“She tweeted that the storm has passed,” the PTI chairman added. “She meant that things would be settled in their favour.”
“They [PML-N] have shown their complete faith in the incumbent heads of the army and the judiciary, but today they are pointing fingers at them,” Imran said.

The Sharif family has been doing this for the past 30 years, he alleged. “The umpire is either their own... or against them.”
Earlier in the day after a nearly two-hour-long appearance before the JIT, Sharif said: “My financial documents are already available with all relevant institutions including the Supreme Court. Today, however, I submitted them to the JIT as well.”
