MULTAN:

An accountability court on Thursday indicted 10 accused, including former Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) vice chancellor and registrar, in a corruption case pertaining to enrolment at a new campus in Multan.

The accused were involved in opening the university’s sub campus in Lahore in violation of the rules and taking millions in admission fee from the students. The court had also summoned the witnesses on July 10.

‘Country needs Zarb-e-Azb-like operation to curb corruption’

Earlier in November 2015, National Accountability Bureau arrested former Bahauddin Zakariya University vice-chancellor Syed Khawaja Alqama and BZU Lahore Campus Director Hamza Munir over misuse of authority in opening a sub campus in Lahore and enrolling students in it.

The NAB prosecutor said Alqama had signed the agreement as BZU vice chancellor which could only be made by the university syndicate.
