Just a day earlier on Monday, the treasury benches were screaming slogans of “look, here comes the lion” when Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif entered the house, but it was a mouse that took centre stage on Tuesday. The creature gained access to the house, drawing some gasps and screams from the MPAs. The sizeable rodent was seen running along a pillar located near their MPAs’ seats.

Third day in a row: Debate over budget rages on in Punjab Assembly

The lawmakers stood up in a hurry and assembled a few feet away from the chairs. The security men were called in to locate the vermin, but their attempts failed. The legislators did not sit on their seats until they were assured the mouse had gone. However, as soon as they sat down, the creature reappeared.  After a short game of hide and seek, it finally scurried away and official business was back on track.
