FAISALABAD: A man drowned in a canal in the precincts of Lundianwala police station on Sunday.

The police said that Nabeel Ahmad, a resident of Chak No 652/2, was walking on the bank of Gogera Branch Canal at Jaranwala-Lahore Road when he slipped and drowned in the canal.

Soon after the incident, the divers of Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and started searching for the body. However, till filing of this report, the body could not be recovered.

Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested 30 criminals, including 16 proclaimed offenders from various parts of the district. The police also confiscated 10 pistols, two guns, a carbine, 4.71 kg hashish and 76 litres liquor from their possession.

The traffic police arrested six youths for doing wheelie from various parts of the city.

A spokesperson of traffic police said that motorcyclists Shehran Khan, Aslam, Ali, Ghulam Murtaza, Tayyab and Nauman were arrested as they were charged with doing wheelies on city roads.
