The first option was to build a new road, 10 metres above water level, while the second was to reduce the water level to an extent that the old road is made usable again. The second option was more feasible in terms of cost and time requirements. It includes construction of 1.36 Km long bridges and tunnels costing Rs24 billion. The design of the project is flexible if requirements change.
