County had earlier signed Younus Khan.

LAHORE:

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has agreed to join Warwickshire as replacement for Younus Khan who was a part of the national team in the 2011 World Cup.

With Warwickshire’s first fixture against Somerset scheduled to be played on April 14 and Younus’ participation unlikely given Pakistan’s upcoming tour of the West Indies which starts from April 18, the county opted for Yousuf instead of waiting for Younus.

“I have agreed to a two-month stint with the county in place of Younus,” Yousaf told The Express Tribune.

“I applied for the visa last week and will join them before the first game.”

Younus – who had agreed to a two-year deal with the county last autumn while he was banned indefinitely from national duties – has since patched up his differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board.

But the resumption of his national duties and the upcoming tour of the West Indies clashing with the first six weeks of the county season, implicated his unavailability to play for the county, putting Younus’ commitment under doubt.
