ISLAMABAD: Police have booked at least five of their colleagues after their education certificates were found to be bogus. Forgery and fraud cases have been registered against five constables of the capital police at Shams Colony Police Station.

The suspects were identified as Sarfraz, Muhammad Nawaz, Naeemullah, Jaffar Shah, and Qaiser Ayaz. Complaints against them were lodged by the police headquarters after their matric certificates were found to be fake.

A police officer told The Express Tribune that another two-three policemen had been booked on the same charge prior to these five fresh cases.

He said some of the suspects had joined the police a few years ago after their retirement from the army.

Another officer said that some of the suspects had served in the police for as long as 25 and 30 years.

He also added that all the suspects had been dismissed by the police after their certificates were found bogus.

However, none of the suspects have been arrested yet. “We have not arrested any of the suspects yet, but we will arrest and charge them soon,” said an official.
