Shopping festival ‘to promote local culture’

Delegations from Iran, Turkey and Indonesia to attend first Punjab Expo.

The festival has been organised to promote commercial activities as well as to project the culture of the city, said Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry senior vice-president Sheikh Muhamad Arshad on Sunday.


He was speaking on the opening day of the Lahore Shopping Festival. He said that delegations from Turkey, Indonesia, and Iran had been invited to attend the Punjab Expo.

Hamza Shahbaz, the chief guest on the occasion, praised the business community for promoting a positive image of the country by organising the festival.

Earlier, the festival kicked off with the final match of the ongoing polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club. A Husne Qira’at competition would be held at the LCCI’s Amin Hall on Monday (today). On Tuesday, a young entrepreneur business plan competition, a photographic competition, a vintage car rally and Punjabi musical evening would take place.

The closing ceremony followed by a concert and a cultural show would take place on Sunday.
