Both the deceased were kidnapped, tortured then shot: police.

KARACHI:

A former office bearer of the Awami National Party and a brother of a Sunni Tehreek activist were found dead in separate acts of violence on Sunday.

In the first incident, a bullet-riddled body of 31-year-old Nasarullah Niazi, the former ANP man, was found in a sack in Bihar Colony, Lyari, within the remits of Chakiwara police station. Police officials said they found the body after the locals informed them. His body was taken to Civil hospital where he was identified.

Scores of ANP men reached the hospital and protested against the murder. Lyari Town SP Javed Baloch said the suspects kidnapped and then severely tortured the victim before shooting him at least nine times.

Niazi was the former incharge of ANP Ward, Lyari Sector and he was still associated with the party. The deceased hailed from Mianwali and is survived by a wife and two children. ANP spokesman Qadir Khan condemned the incident and demanded the government take action to curb target killings of ANP workers and supporters.

A case was not registered until the filing of this report.

ST man killed

Separately, a body of the younger brother of a local Sunni Tehreek leader was found from a garbage dump near Ship Owner College in Sharae Noor Jehan police limits. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Naveed Anjum. Police officials said he was shot many times and his body bore several torture marks.

The deceased was a student and his elder brother, Shahab Anjum, is a local ST leader. The victim’s family told the police that he had disappeared soon after he received a phone call on Saturday. Later, his body was found.

Naveed was killed in one place and the suspects dumped his body elsewhere, according to the police.

FIR No. 158/11 was registered against unidentified people on behalf of his brother.
