Ever been to a country where you face difficulties communicating with its residents? We've all been in situations where we've ended up resorting to hand gestures or other universal signs to find our way through conversations in foreign languages.

At the end of the day, we do manage to get our way around but it definitely isn't easy.

Known as ili, the device instantly translates to the language of your preference. The languages it supports includes English to Spanish, Mandarin, or Japanese as well as Mandarin to English or Japanese.

"ili responds in as little as 0.2 seconds. That means no awkward staring contests while one of you waits for a translation," according to a post on their website.

Priced at $189, the important aspect of this device is that it doesn't need Wi-Fi to function, which makes it ideal for use when stuck in a foreign country.
