Admitted to the SRV Hospital for her falling blood pressure, Geeta's son was asked to make a deposit at the hospital. He went went out on the pretext of looking for an ATM to withdraw money from but never came back.
Despite waiting for him, the doctors at SRV hospital continued Geeta's treatment as her condition was quite critical.
"Raja got her to us, lying about him being an army officer and she needing urgent treatment. He was asked to pay a deposit and complete the formalities. He left saying he would get money from the nearest ATM but never returned. We had no option but to start the treatment as she was in a bad shape," revealed one of the doctors.
"I even sent an ambulance to their home to trace him. But the neighbours said the family had left the house that very day," he added.
The hospital made multiple attempts to contact Geeta's son Raja and her daughter Pooja, but to no avail.
After that, the Pakeezah actor was left alone with a bill of INR 150,000. In an interview with TV9, Geeta revealed that it's been over a month and nobody from her family has come to get her from the hospital.

Talking to the publication, Geeta said, "He used to beat me up as I did not approve of his philandering ways. He would give me food once in four days, and sometimes, even lock me up for several. I was not ready to go to an old-age home, that’s why, he planned all this. He deliberately kept me hungry and I fell ill. Then, he got me admitted and fled."
Reports suggest that the hospital has lodged a complaint with the police, who are now trying to trace Geeta's family. "We were ready to send her home, but the son refuses to turn up. We had no option but to inform the police," said Dr Tripathi.
