Students enthral audience at UAF’s reunion night
Performances highlighting social issues displayed at the event.
FAISALABAD:
The students of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad enthralled the audience by their performance during a grand alumni reunion night which was held at the campus the other day.
The premises of UAF wore a colourful look on the eve of the event. A large number of people turned up to watch the function wherein the students performed dance on songs and presented tableau.
The event was organised by a team headed by Rural Sociology Department Chairperson Dr Ashfaq Mann.
The students displayed various performances and highlighted social issues. The participants lauded their performances and appreciated the efforts taken by the students and faculty members.
While speaking to The Express Tribune, Muhammad Jamil, a student of MPhil said, “I have witnessed for the first time that female and male students are performing together in the presence of their teachers.” He added, “Unfortunately, in the past, such acts were considered against religious values in the city.”

Amna Shafi, a student of MSC Rural Sociology, said, “Today’s event has proved that cultural activities could be held in our universities without fear which is a good sign.”
Meanwhile, UAF Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan told The Express Tribune, “There is general perception that the menace of prejudice can be rooted-out by promoting tolerance, patience and promoting education in the society.”
He added, “There is need to expedite work on attitude of the people and their way of thinking to know the difference of opinions that will help overcome terrorism.”
“Our country is running through difficult times due to different challenges. We have to work on the mindset of the people irrespective of the colour, creed and religion to lead a peaceful life,” he pointed out.
The VC said, “Extremism has taken roots in our society. Now it is our collective responsibility to defeat terrorism by working on the mindset of the people.”
While sharing his views, Rural Sociology Department Chairperson Prof Dr Ashfaq Mann said, “Patience in the society is declining and that is a matter of grave concern.” He said they were making all-out efforts to work on the ethics of the students so that they could become responsible citizens of the society.
