Well known kabbaddi players Shahbaz and Abdul Razaq were brutally beaten with hockey sticks on Friday evening.
The brothers were attacked in the street by a gang of eleven people who flogged them with hockey sticks and hit them with bricks.
Sitra residents Abdul Razaq and Shahbaz Razaq are district kabaddi champions and reportedly had a long-standing rivalry with their neighbour Tanvir Ahmed.
“Tanvir and the Razaq brothers had faced off in several kabaddi matches and they were looking to seek revenge for their loss,” said a Sitra village resident. On Friday evening Tanvir Ahmed, Muhammad Nawaz, Pervaiz, Munir Ahmed and others attacked the brothers in a street outside a tea house.
The gang severely beat the men until residents intervened and shifted them to a local hospital.
Hospital officials have said that both brothers are in critical condition. Police officials have registered a case and started an investigation.
